Connection request
Also called LinkedIn invitation, LinkedIn invite
An invitation to connect on LinkedIn, optionally carrying a short note. Accepting it puts both people in each other’s first-degree network and opens direct messaging.
LinkedIn applies a weekly limit to invitations and has never published the figure. It varies by account, and accounts with many ignored or withdrawn invitations may see theirs reduced.
Acceptance rate matters more than volume. A large number of invitations nobody accepts is the clearest available signal that an account is contacting people indiscriminately, and it affects standing directly.
Invitations that sit unanswered for weeks are worth withdrawing. Pending requests count against an account and clearing them costs nothing.
